Winning a game of Fortnite in space
With Saulderson Media’s help, Kaidoz became the first content creator in the world to play a game of Fortnite on a device 30,000 feet above the Earth. Hitting number 1 on trending for gaming we went truly viral and out of this world.
The Challenge
During the peak of Fortnite, Kaidoz became one of the fastest-growing Fortnite creators on YouTube. He was known for producing viral videos and had a knack for content that engaged viewers.
One day, he decided he wanted to take it even further and produce a truly out-of-this-world concept.
Could he send a laptop, phone or other device into space and be able to win a game of Fortnite, controlling it from a PC and controller down on Earth?
The idea was set, but Kaidoz didn’t know where to start.
He reached out to Saulderson Media to make this vision a reality.
The Solution
Saulderson Media partnered up with our friends at Stratonauts to build a payload that could make its way to the Edge of Space and withstand the changes in the atmosphere.
After many months and multiple iterations later, we created the STRATO-005 vehicle that would take an iPhone and a Fortnite Llama up into the edge of space.
In the Summer of 2020, the Saulderson Media, Stratonauts and Kaidoz team launched the payload into space from a location in Nottingham.
Saulderson Media produced the content in partnership with Kaidoz and engaged Fuze.TV to be the sponsor of the video to fund the project.
The Result
This campaign was a huge success. The payload successfully completed its mission to the edge of space and returned successfully to Earth with a game of Fortnite being won before the balloon popped at the edge of space, sending the payload back down to Earth.
